Meet the Founding Director of EBI and EB Digital School

Dr. Tacor Natalie Sims

Executive Director | Lead Professor | Director of Curriculum & Instruction

Dr. Tacor Natalie Sims, PhD, is the Founding Executive Director of Emergent Bilingual Institute (EBI) and EB Digital School. She leads the organization’s mission to advance professional development for educators and deliver high-quality, flexible online secondary education tailored to Emergent Bilingual (EB) and multilingual (ML) learners.

Dr. Sims has taught English and English as a Second Language (ESL) since 2011, with extensive experience at the secondary and post-secondary levels in both classroom and online learning environments. She brings over a decade of curriculum design and instructional leadership expertise to her role.

She holds a BA and MA in English, a Post-Master’s Certificate in College Teaching, and a PhD in Education. Her teaching certifications and licensure include:

  • Texas: 4th–8th ELAR, 7th–12th ELAR, 4th–12th ESL

  • Indiana: 5th–12th ELA

  • South Carolina: 6th–8th ELA, 9th–12th ELA, 6th–12th ESL

  • TESOL: K–12 TESOL certification

  • Administrator: Director of Curriculum and Instruction (PreK–12), Indiana

In 2023, Dr. Sims was selected by Pearson and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to contribute to the development of English Language Arts educator certification assessments. She was also honored with a Teacher of the Year award for the 2023–2024 school year.

Through her leadership of EBI and EB Digital School, Dr. Sims continues to champion educational access and academic success for diverse learners—especially those acquiring English as an additional language.
