Emergent Bilingual Institute’s Course Cancellation and Refund Policy

The cancellation and refund policy is provided to students at least two weeks before the course starts. The policy is as follows: Students are not dropped by EBI for not starting or participating in their course. Refunds are not automatically offered to students for inactivity, lack of participation, missed attendance, and/or missed assignments. However, refunds can be requested by officially dropping the course before the end of week 2 (14 days counting the start date), which is weeks 1 and 2 of the 5-week course. 

Students must email their request to terminate course access, with their chosen drop date listed in the request, not to exceed the 14th day of the course. Cancellation and refund requests can be submitted by email anytime up to two weeks after the course's official start date, which is the last day to submit requests; however, refund amounts vary based on the selected drop date. 

Refunds requested before courses start will be considered a cancellation and are refunded at 100%. Refunds requested before the end of week 1 will be at 80%, and refunds requested before the end of week 2 will be at 60%. Refunds are not approved after week 2 of 5-week courses, despite nonparticipation.

All refunds are processed within 30 days of the course's original end date, and refunds require up to 10 business days after processing to be received by mail. 

Students who opted to divide course tuition into monthly installments must complete their installments before refunds can be processed, considering the card will already be set up through our course education platform to auto-draft the two equal payments. Please still submit refund requests according to the timeframe outlined in our refund policy as this waiting period only relates to completing tuition payments. Refund processing timeframes are the same for students who make one payment for tuition or two.

Students who receive a grant from EBI for tuition will have their funds entered back into the grant pool for future students. Students who receive tuition payments on behalf of their district or outside entity will have funds returned to the sponsor for their contributing portion before the remaining balance is returned.

Please state the following information in your refund request email: Full Name, Date of Birth, Mailing address for Refund, Course Name, Course Drop Date, and Optional: Reason for Cancellation. Please allow up to 5 business days to receive acknowledgment of refund requests; however, refunds will be issued according to the drop date selected by the student, considering the email is timestamped within 14 days after the course’s start date.

Although enrollments are accepted within 14 days of the course's start date, all participants must have viewed the course description and refund policy no later than the 14th day before courses begin. If you have not viewed EBI's course descriptions and refund policy by handout or on EBI’s website at least two weeks before the start date of your course(s), please email EBI at emergentbilingualinstitute@gmail.com before enrolling. EBI advisors can adjust enrollment to the next available start date, allowing students at least 14 days to consider the course descriptions and cancellation/refund policy. Signing acknowledges viewing of course descriptions and cancellation/refund policy at least 14 days before the course starts. 


**Note to TEFL and Educational Aide program students only: you have until the end of module-week 4 of your first course, instead of module-week 2 to request a refund. Refunds requested before courses start will be considered a cancellation and are refunded at 100%. Refunds requested before the end of calendar week 1 (Module-week 2 in the course for TEFL & EA) will be at 80%, and refunds requested before the end of calendar week 2 (Module-week 4 in courses for TEFL & EA program courses) will be at 60%. Refunds are not approved after calendar week 2 (module-week 4 for TEFL & EA courses) of 5-week courses, despite non-participation.
